- What if I don’t know the price of topsoil in my area?
- You can skip the price field entirely; the tool will provide volume in cubic yards and tons without cost. If you have a rough local price, enter it to get an estimated total.
- How does the density setting affect my results?
- The default density is 75 lb/ft³ for loamy topsoil. Switching to dense clay (90 lb/ft³) will increase the calculated weight in tons, which affects cost estimates if a price per ton is entered.
- What units should I use for depth— inches or feet?
- You can enter depth in inches, feet, yards, meters, or centimeters; the calculator converts all inputs to feet internally before computing cubic yards.
